PvP Guide: The Kirgin Plain, Kiting and Animation Canceling

Kuzark is a PvP MMORPG: the war between races is at its heart. This guide covers the core techniques that win fights and how the Kirgin Plain works.

The three phases of an attack

Every attack has three phases: wind-up (raising the weapon), impact (the moment damage lands) and recovery (lowering the weapon). Impact comes 0.25 s after the attack in melee, 0.3 s for spells and 0.45 s for bows. The rule is the same for every class and weapon.

Animation canceling

  • Move before impact (with keys or by clicking the ground) and the attack is canceled: no damage, and your attack cooldown comes back. Use it to back out of a wrong target or a dangerous spot.
  • Move after impact and the damage stays, the recovery animation is cut and you move at once.
  • Skills deal damage immediately; your character holds still for a moment, then moving cuts the rest of the animation (except heal casts).

Animation canceling does not increase damage; it makes you more agile. It is checked on the server, so it cannot be forced with cheats.

Kiting: hit and step back

Hit, step back as soon as the damage lands, then hit again. Fighting while keeping the enemy away is called kiting. It is essential for the Bowman and the Shaman: while a melee fighter tries to reach you, you deal damage with every step. For melee classes, kiting means dodging the enemy's heavy blow and slipping your own hit in between.

PvP tips by class

  • Warrior: Close the gap with Lightning Lunge, save Whirlwind Blade for crowds.
  • Dagger: Approach with Melt into Shadow, open with Ambush Strike.
  • Bowman: Keep Wind Step for escaping; break up crowds with Arrow Shower.
  • Dark Alp: Cast Dark Shell before the fight; catch runners with Shadow Spear.
  • Shaman: Stay behind your party; give Umay's Healing to whoever takes the most hits.

The Kirgin Plain and War Points

The Kirgin Plain is where the two races fight in the open. Every victory earns War Points. The weekly score resets every Monday at 00:00, and the top five of the week carry a rank emblem in game. The clan ranking is the sum of all members' points. See the current ranking on the home page.

Preparation

Before a fight, upgrade your gear, put potions on your hotbar and form a party. In big fights a lone player is the first target. See the clan guide for running clans and parties.
